The primary responsibility of this role is to accelerate the growth of the EMEA Surgical business, by creating and implementing an impactful Professional and Clinical Affairs strategy.

Main responsibilities

• Increase the reach and frequency of their medical communications among surgeons and, where applicable, patients, by leading the creation of an effective EMEA network of Key Opinion Leaders and Key Endorsers.
• Provide strong leadership and direction to local Professional / Clinical Affairs Managers by focusing the team on creating and managing productive and impactful networks of Key Opinion Leaders and Key Endorsers.  Ensure that these networks create appropriate content (in message and amount) to ensure that they meet their reach and frequency goals.
• Maximise the ability of the Professional / Clinical Affairs organisation to segment, target, and influence Opthalmologists to view our client's brand and their product as “first choice.”
• Focus Professional / Clinical Affairs Managers on significantly improving the reach, frequency, and demonstrable sales impact of their medical communications programs.  Measure impact through visible use of dashboards and metrics.
• Drive effectiveness, efficiency and executional excellence throughout the EMEA, by ensuring that internal and external best practices are consistently shared and adopted across the Region.

Key Opinion Leader/Key Endorser management

• Constantly improve the sales impact and efficiency of their KOL and KE activities through development of widely visible, rigorous tracking dashboards.
• Work closely with the Global team to ensure EMEA activities align with the Global Professional and Clinical affairs strategy and to effectively deploy internal and external speakers on behalf of our client.

Medical Communications

• Drive the focus and content of medical communications, including (but not limited to) Key Endorser programs and presentations, professional trade journals and other publications, and posters at conferences.
• Establish the right reach and frequency for each communication vehicle. Ensure all written materials are delivered to a high technical and accurate specification.
• Develop productive relationships with trade (and other) publications to ensure maximum and on-strategy coverage of our client's Surgical products.
• Link with the EMEA Training Network to ensure key messages and materials are incorporated into sales training appropriately.

Clinical Programmes

• Work closely with Global and Regional “expert” clinical colleagues to ensure that the right clinical studies are being conducted, with the right customers, at the right time, to deliver the right claims and messages.
• Act as the “voice of the customer” at a Regional and Global level, to help ensure that our client develops and executes an excellent clinical studies programme, and has a leading “share of voice” in relation to their competitors.
• Bring leadership and clarity to their EMEA clinical studies programme and ensure frequent and clear communication with all stakeholders throughout the region.

Expert Leadership

• Lead the training and capability development required for the Professional / Clinical Affairs Managers as influencers and developers of Key Endorsers, KOLs, reference centres and trade publications writers/editors.
• Be a vocal and visible leader within the organization for the Professional and Clinical Affairs objectives and activities.
